Eng No. D11M 18807. Frame No. 25449
Very rare and desirable genuine 1950 DOHC plunger 500 Manx. Has been slightly personalised over the years. Non-standard parts include early 30s Andre damper, 50s Manx clip-ons and BMW seat (fits perfectly) as well as an oil pressure gauge. Frame is perfect in every way with no cracks or repairs.
Original aluminium petrol and oil tanks. According to the dispatch records, this is first plunger Manx not to have Andre damper fitted as standard so owner has fitted early 30s Andre damper. Original magnesium cone hubs fitted as per 1950 Manx spec but 21 inch front and 19 inch rear rims (original would have had 20 inch rear rim but tyres this size almost impossible to source). New tyres. 2 way fork dampers as per 1950 spec Manx. Engine has been rebuilt by Melbourne-based specialist Manx engine builder Frank Rogers. Anything that needed replacing was replaced. Earlier crankcases fitted due to damaged originals (several decades ago). AJS vernier timing sprocket fitted to magneto for precise timing (Francis Beart used to do likewise). Current piston is low compression but higher compression piston comes with bike. Manx gear cluster. Later AMC type clutch (stronger spider). Correct BTH mag has been tested and throws excellent spark. Correct Amal RN racing carb. Correct tachometer. Tank has been professionally repaired ready to paint with no dings or dents.
This is an excellent example of a 1950 Manx lovingly pieced together and restored by well respected motorcyclist. It just needs your personal touches to finish.
